Whether you are looking to replace an existing 4BT/6BT marine engine or interested in doing a complete repower we can help. The 4BT and 6BT Marine engines are perfect for commercial fishing vessels, small trawlers, supply boats, patrol boats, skiffs, tugs, pontoons, and pleasure boats.
Mechanical Cummins 4BT and 6BT engines have been popular for repower projects due to their lighter weight, available power, and significantly lower cost over Yanmar or Volvo Penta engines. Common repower projects include the old Detroit Two-Stroke 4-71s and 6-71s, Perkins 4.154, 4.326 and 6.354, Ford Lehman, Mercruiser, Sterling and Gray Marine.
First designed in 1983, the 4BT and later on 6BT (1989) are known to be some of the best diesel engines ever designed for industrial and automotive use with millions upon millions of engines still working hard today. Their reputation is built on their simple design, easy of use to work on and open ability to upgrade as needed from a performance aspect.
Our 4BTA (3.9 L) and 6BTA (5.9 L) marine engines essentially come as complete engine (extended long blocks) and include wet exhaust manifolds, water cooled turbocharger, marine rated fuel pump, fuel lines, injectors, marine rated pistons, heat exchanger, sea water pump and oil pan. Our Cummins 4BT/6BT Marine engines are designed
to be connected to a gearbox with a fixed-pitch propeller; additionally engines can be connected to a ControlledPitch Propeller System (CPP). All marine engines come as a standard “Left Hand” Counter Clockwise Rotation (CCW). Directional rotation can be identified when inspecting the flywheel rotation. Engines are all run tested and ready to
ship.
Note: Marine engines come as is. It is up to you, the customer, to configure your application as needed.
Our marine long block and extended long block assemblies are considered ‘component builds’. A new component build is an engine assembly built back to popular configurations using roughly 90% OEM parts, 10% Aftermarket when available.
New Component Builds do include limited rebuilt and/or remanufactured components when necessary but frequently they are non-critical wear parts such as aftercoolers, exhaust manifolds, water inlet and outlet connections, gears, gear housings etc… Each build cycle we do is different and follows compliance standards governing re-use guidelines.
