Remanufacturing Process

A remanufactured 6068 long block is a wonderful choice for someone who has suffered an internal engine failure, especially if they have any re-useable external components that may still be of use from their old engine. Long blocks are also a good option when trying to cut back on costs in the search of a solution.

Our team of machinists and engine builders carefully executes a full core tear down, cleaning, inspection, and machining of the engine right before it leaves our facility, ensuring excellence each and every time.

However, it is important to mention that all of our 6068 remanufactured long blocks are constructed with a combination of both reman and new parts. We do refrain from reconditioning or refurbishing old engine parts, preferring to completely rebuild the old 6068 motors back to OEM specs.

THOROUGH CLEANING

Firstly, every 6068 engine is entirely stripped. Blocks, heads, rods, crankshafts, and camshafts are carefully cleaned in a chemical jet wash or hot tank to remove stubborn impurities that could eventually assist both early component and engine failure.

CRANKSHAFTS

Leaving nothing to chance, crankshafts are precision machined to exact tolerances, polished & magnafluxed, then inspected by our highly attentive quality control department.

 CYLINDER HEADS

Heads are then resurfaced to guarantee a good sealing surface with the block and a finish compatible with today's new gasket materials. Valve height is mic-d and correct valve seating is ensured by way of vacuum testing.

CYLINDER BLOCKS

Blocks are treated with a magnetic particle that inspects for both cracks and imperfections. Cylinders are then bored, honed, and inspected to precise tolerances. Torque plate honing is done on particular engines to eliminate the chances of cylinder head distortion after the head is securely bolted and torqued to the block. This process removes a major cause of engine blow-by. Block surfaces are machined and then inspected to guarantee proper finish.

CAMSHAFTS

Camshafts are inspected and precisely machined to provide the correct lift. Lobs are measured with a micrometer to ensure OEM tolerances are met.

CONNECTING RODS

Connecting rods are cleaned, then machined to back to O.E.M. specifications before being perfected to the standard diameter of the original equipment ensuring even distribution of stress on the bearings. New bushings are also fitted and then machined in all bushed rods. Every rod is also carefully inspected for bend and twist.

NEW PARTS

Our 6068 long block engines obtain a standard set of new parts such as pistons and rings, bearings, gaskets and seals, and liners. The new parts guarantee reliable performance and dependability throughout the life of your engine.

REMANUFACTURED ENGINES STANDARDS

We think that to remanufacture is to make as new as possible. To that end, wearable parts are automatically replaced. All 6068 core material is then thoroughly inspected and examined against the original equipment specifications for correct dimensional tolerances. Replacement parts are either new or requalified. If new parts are used, they are made in an identical production process as the original equipment. Testing is also performed to manufacturer specifications and original production standards.
